Good morning! We have 2 girls in a 4 foot wire cage. KD shelves, metal pan slide out on the bottom.
My issue is the mess they make knocking out all the hay and poop as they chase around. Our wood shelves don't have outer ledges - they're just a straight wooden ledge basically.
Does anyone have suggestions for a barrier can I use on the outside of the cage to keep all that in?
Thanks so much

Do you think plexiglass would be OK? It'd be on the outside but I suppose they could work their little snouts through the wire of the cage and try to chew it...

I currently have some plexi sheilds on outside of FN cages and thus far no issues at all... I have been monitoring closely to watch for signs of any chewing, but thus far, none of the 5 cages I have it on has any signs of chin-deconstruction on the plexi... and I make VERY sure to have plenty of safe chews for them inside as a distraction, lol...

Or you could wrap the outside of the cages with Fleece? I mean I have the same problem, even if some of the sides are covered with plexi or fleece, they'll throw poop and hay out the front. What I did was put down a large piece of Vinyl under my cages, it is a dark brown pattern (so poop isn't as visible) and it makes it really easy to sweep up the mess. It extends several feet from their cages, and I still find poop past it on the floor!

its just something you cant avoid chins throw poo no matter what you do to stop it lol

Yea I know really!! Theyre naturals

I was always trying to make something that would catch the poop, but it still flung out and got all over. Sooo I just gave up =P

yah - even with my blast shields, I find random poos flung hither and yon... however, I find a LOT less of them now...
