My chinchilla Tink had two babies April 10th-----a boy and a girl-----------today the little male started trying to mount his sister------and every time he tries the two fight. I am afraid one of them will get hurt. What should I do?

Make sure your offering hay to mom and the kits. You can also get infant oatmeal cereal and add a good tablespoon to the feed along with powdered goats milk. You will want to keep those bellies full so that they do not pick on one another. Don't use powdered cows milk. Too hard to digest. Our Tractor Supply and health food stores carry the powdered goats milk.
Don't worry if mom eats some. It quite alright. Just make sure babies are getting enough of the mix.

Have you checked to see if mom is drying up? Or only has one working nipple? Fighting can happen with this problem as well.

The recipe for the dry formula:

One part crushed pellets
One part goat's milk powder
One part half and half baby rice and baby oatmeal cereal

Mix it up and store it in an air tight container. Put it in the cage as needed.
