Here is my new baby Ari, who is 8 weeks as of April 3rd. He is a tan white that was born on 2/3/11, the same day I lost my Snaggle. =( I am in love with this Chinchilla. Seriously. He is the sweetest thing. He actually likes being held, petted, kissed on the nose (am I really admitting to this?) and will fall asleep in my arms or on my lap.

LOL I like the last picture where he's sniffing the poop! Beautiful boy! Congratz and I wish you many, many happy years with him :))

He is so adorable!! I think it's neat how he got so much lighter from when he was first born :))

ari is such a cutie! i wished i took pictures of when rutherford was about 6 weeks old... he was too scared and jittery then to tolerate a weird object clicking in front of his face.

Thanks. I tend to think he's pretty cute but I also tend to be a little biased. He's pretty mellow but difficult to keep still when I want to take a picture.

I hope my baby girls will become that affectionate....was Ari like that when you first got him?

And those baby pics are precious! :D

Thanks. =)

I have pretty much had Ari all of his life (all 8 weeks). My roommate is a breeder, so I have held him since the day he was born. I knew I wanted him from day one. I think some of his temperament has to do with the fact that his mother was a pet before she was a breeder and she is very friendly. He seems to be turning out just like her in both looks (including the same white stripe on his back) and personality. I also can't say that I haven't tried to "Pavlov" him to some extent. I always give him a little bit of food that he likes and a lot of petting when he comes out so that he associates it with being a good thing. And the rest is just him - he likes it. =)

How old are your baby girls?

That's so cool. And I bet you're right about his mom being a pet first contributing a lot.

My girls are three months and four months. In less than a week of having her my standard has already found she likes to come to the front of the cage for scritches. Her sister does too, but not as much. :D

I so so hope one day they'll both get to the point they like being held, or at least like sitting on my lap. :)

Aww, that's cute. I hope so too. I know a lot of chins aren't typically overly cuddly (as two of mine aren't at all) but it's nice when they are.
