HOME OF EXTREME MOSAICS!
In memory of Jane Tonkin Edward

February 1963-April 2009
Picture is of Jane (front left) with my brother Steve (behind her) and their three kids.....Jen (front right) Lee (back right) and Billy (back centre)
Two years ago (almost exactly) my best friend and sister in law (she was married to my brother and had been with him since she was 14) died in a tragic head on collision when her truck hit a transport on a snowy highway.
I was thinking of her, and came across this email she sent to me just a few days before she died.....
Jane was the most down to earth, funny, "tell it like it is" person I knew. She never sugar coated anything, and was the first one to tell you a dirty joke.
Her funeral two years ago packed the funeral home, and the funeral director there said that it was the most people he had ever had in for a service in the six years he had been officiating. Flowers filled three rooms. She was a hospital receptionist and touched everyone she met.....
This is her last email to me, and I just happened to come across it today when thinking of her....perhaps she is thinking of me.
True Friendship
None of that Sissy Crap
Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces or angels on this card- Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.
1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.
2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I want to be involved in.
4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.
5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much Worse it could be until you quit whining.
6. When you are confused -- I will use little, tiny words.
7. When you are sick -- Stay the **** away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.
8. When you fall -- I will probably point and laugh at your clumsy ***.
9. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end 'Why?' you may ask; 'because you are my friend'.
Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel it's true warmth.
Remember: A friend will help you move. A really good friend will help you move a body. Let me know if I ever need to bring a shovel
