A Word of Caution on Hammocks and Toys

This is a very sad story, a friend of mine found her chin dead today in his cage. She had a hammock for him, she found him dead hanging upside down with one hind leg caught in rope/stings used to attach the hammock to the cage. She had checked him in the morning then when she got home later she found him like that, so please be careful with toys that hang.

This is part of why we don't recommend the pet store hammocks and only recommend those made from fleece. There are no "strings" for them to get caught in. Instead, the hammocks have a wider surface area that connect to the cage directly at the corners rather than having inches of string/nylon for them to get caught in.
