    Fighting kits

I removed the male kit. I will see how the situation solves with females, but they accept each other so far. By fights I meant chasing each other and that started week ago. Makes perfect sense, cause he was 8 weeks old already. But that ear today made me really worry. I wanted to wean him...

    Fighting kits

I'm aware that there have been topic like this ;) but the difference is that mine kits are not newborns anymore. I cage a mom and two 2,5 month old chins together. Since a week or so there have been fights, now one of kits has a little piece missing of her ear :[ There are not fighting over...

    Chinchillas fighting

Since the new one recognizes the agressor, I'd firstly spray both chins with catnip (or some soft perfumes) before putting them into a carrier suggested by AZchins. They will be bit confused and perphaps less agressive. Good luck!

    Females humping each other!?

My guess is that one wants to dominate the another, so there's nothing to worry about. This is how they create hierarchy. Keep an eye on them, but don't interfere unless you see blood.

    Reintroducing the male

Thanks for the clue where to find more info. ^^ No, no I haven't reintroduced them so far. The standard's behaviour was really worring. Besides I see no point in making the females nervous when they are in such states. I am looking for the guidelines about how it should be done when there'll be...

    Reintroducing the male

I have 2 females: a standard and beige (both 1,5 year old) and 1 male (TOV, 2 years old). The females have been brought together and the male joined later. There were no fights, no pissing, biting or so on .. the standard became the boss :hammer:, and the other two chins were submissive. The...

    Question on colours (ebony, tan)

Thank you! That clarified a lot. I had no idea that the tail furr can be used to predict the colour of the final coat. Ps. Very informative website and wonderful chins. I love the photos too ^^

    Question on colours (ebony, tan)

Thanks for the answers. ^^ So if a medium ebony is born, it'll more likely become a light ebony with age, not a dark one? If the ebony gene was responsible only for the belly wrap, then it would be a beige gene in the TANs that make them darker with age? I think it makes sense. Mh.. but due...

    Question on colours (ebony, tan)

Do ebony chinchillas get darker as they age? Or do they remain the same colour since birth? In the case of TANs, is it the beige gene that is responsible for gradual darkening or is it ebony gene?
