Where do you get your dust in big bag like a 50 lb bag or so?

After looking around I've found that I can order my chins food and get hay cubes at a great deal, just 2 counties above me. So I'm thinking that if I look around I might be able to find my loose hay and maybe even dust somewhat local. Would save me a bunch in shipping thats for sure.

I'm just going to start ordering from the Ryersons. I think their 50lb bag of Blue Cloud with shipping is less than $50 and the person I get my dust from has now went up to $40 for a 50lb bag and its a 3.5 hr drive and I'd pay a heck of a lot in gas.

does dust ever...expire? I want to order in bulk (I know Ryersons has it for like $22 including shipping for 15 lbs) but was afraid that it might get old after awhile seeing as I only have 3 chinchillas, possibly 4 or 5 or even 6 if I adopt the two from the vet and than get another I have been talking to a member about.

As far as I know, as long as you keep it out of moisture, it will keep until you use it.

It never expires if you keep it cool and dry! It is a cement by product, I believe. I always pay about the same for shipping as for the dust, I think $60 is about what I pay for a 50lb bag...I forgot who took apart the bag and put it in 2 large flat rate boxes for me, but that worked well.

The actual company, where it is mined, is in Southern California, and I have been able to pick up the 50 lb bags from the company for $10 -if you live in SO. Cal it may be worth the trip.

Just wanted to let you know that I am completely and utterly jealous of you. That is all. <---- That is what I think of your amazingly cheap Blue Cloud. lol

Wow that is crazy expensive for a 50 lb bag at $60. Do you have any shows local to you? That's where I pick mine up for $20 a bag. I doubt unless you have a large breeder in your area that you can find dust local. Of course unless you live in CA where it's milled.

I pay $20.00 for a 50lb bag but I purchase it from Shoots in Ohio.

I live in So.Cal. Exactly where are they located? Do you have to make an appointment first or can you just show up?

I just ordered 1 ton and will have it here next week sometime. I'm going to do a special on it. 20lbs. for $15 plus $13.95 flat rate shipping. I'll have it in my store.

Does Shoots ship or do you have to go pick it up?

Can someone tell me how to contact both Shoots and Ryersons?

Thanks

I emailed Shoots and had him bring it to me at the ECBC Nationals show. You can email either Shoots or Ryersons.

If you do find it some where in KY please let me know. I would like to know who carries it who may be closer.

Right now I drive up to Ohio to go get mine, and want to also see if I can find it some where in TN, KY. It would be better for me.
