My chinchilla died. He was 15 years old but appeared healthy and not in distress prior to finding him dead. As I was looking him over to see if there were signs of injury or any clues about what happened, I found this sticking out of his penis. Can anyone explain what this is? It has the spongy texture of tissue. The thin end was inside of him and the rest where it gets wider was sticking out of the urethra. I think that he died because he couldn't urinate.
