Not sure if it is flying squirrel or chipmunk.LOL We watched squirrels during a snow while we were in Tennessee do something similar in a snow.They curled their tail up their back and over their head like a little umbrella!I'll have to see if I can find a pic later.

It's a Japanese dwarf flying squirrel. I have that exact photo as my desktop background on one of my computers. (It's not 'shopped as far as I can tell.)
