Hey again guys :)

could you guys give me some fun toys suggestions? He has a ton of the hanging wood toys and huts and stuff but I’m looking for some more interactive toys. He eats toilet paper rolls so those are out of the question and any type of cardboard he can get his hands on he eats as well. I’m gone for a couple hours each day and want to give him some more interesting toys to play with while I’m gone. Also, maybe some ideas to play with him while he’s out of his cage? I plan on making ledges tomorrow for his cage :)

TIA!

You can get toss toys, like willow/vine balls they come in all different sizes. Also cholla logs, depending on the size you can stuff them with hay and maybe a treat to find. Other small things they can carry would be things like loofah slices, coconut shell (just the hard shell not the fiber), seagrass or timothy hay twists and rings, palm leaf (I like to buy the palm leaf shredder ribbon and weave it in the bars). Tunnels can be fun too, either metal or water grade PVC pipe ideally 6" or bigger, you can cover them in fleece to prevent chewing if you want. You can also get lava ledges, it's something to hop on as well as it helps file their nails and give them something to chew. I don't know how handy you are but you can also make a small chinchilla cat tree or use a small cat tree in the play area, remove or cover all fabric and string and cover in fleece, also keep height in mind (don't want a bad fall or escape if using a pen). There are also bigger play houses and stuff you can buy or make, here is a site that has some cool stuff to give you some ideas WebShop--Cage Stuff | nolachinchillarescue.org

Do you have a wheel? I don't think any pet stores sell any safe wheels that I know of but here is a list of ones you can get online.

Thank you! I had a wheel in there for him but he didn’t seem to use it much, he just peed on it lol.

Hi! I don’t know if you’re familiar with Forever Feisty, a chinchilla rescue site, but to support their work they have an online store and sell lots of cool toys as well as other great stuff (hammocks, houses, etc.) My chin loves the balls, wreaths, timothy twines, and other chewable toys they sell, and I feel comfortable giving them to him knowing they’re safe for chins.

Aside from the ones already mentioned (my chin's entire cage and play area are covered in things from NOLA chinchilla rescue, I highly recommend their work, it's super great!), I have bought a lot of toy's from Whimsy's Chinchilla menagerie. The toys are HUGE for the price and my chins have loved their toys for years.
