Switching cages with wood shelves between chins

So I'm thinking about switching Elena's and Cloud's cages. Elena's got the FN all to herself since Tseng passed about a year ago. Meanwhile younger, much more active Cloud has the smaller cage. Both have wood shelves, so my question is, do I need to do anything special to clean the shelves? I was going to water/vinegar wash them and sand them down some. is that enough so they can use each other's shelves?

So long as both chins are healthy and the shelves aren't pee soaked I don't see any reason you need to do more then just a simple cleaning. It's common to swap out chew toys between chins in a household if one doesn't like something another might, so shelves should be safe. Vinegar and water wash and sanding should be good enough, you'd mostly just want to get the smell of the other chin (and possibly any pee or poop) off the shelves.

You can also flip the shelves over so a new surface is used.
