Listening to my IPod tonight and I've got k.d lang and Roy Orbison's Cryin' on right now and I thought wow this is just the saddest love song. But there are a few more.

My List:

Crying--Roy Orbinson or Roy Orbinson and k.d. lang
He Stopped Loving Her Today--George Jones
I Will Always Love You--Dolly Parton, Dolly & Vince Gill or Whitney Houston

And of course The King--Are You Lonesome Tonight

What's your list?

Long Black Veil-- Johnny Cash, or Emmylou Harris and Dave Matthews (From the CMT tribute to Johnny Cash)

She Moved through the Fair-- folk tune, Loreena McKennitt has a good rendition

If You're Not the One-- Daniel Beddingfield

Last Kiss-- Wayne Cochran, Frank Wilson and the Caveliers, Pearl Jam ("Oh where oh where can my baby be? The Lord took her away from me. She's gone to heaven so I've got to be good so I can see my baby when I leave this world.")

I recently rediscovered the song called The Ballad of Curtis Lowe by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I know it's not a love song, per se, but that guy (the narrator, I guess you would call it--Ronnie Van Zant I think) loved that Curt and was sad when he died.

Cause, I mean, he was the finest picker to ever play the blues, after all...

I like Are You Lonesome Tonight, too, Laurie.

3CsMommy--I didn't know Last Kiss was a cover, I've only ever heard the Pearl Jam rendition. I still can't listen to the whole thing and haven't downloaded it even though I think it's good. It's just too sad for me.

I had a Loreena McKennitt cd when I was 15, maybe. I remember the song The Highway Man and it made me cry every time I listened to it. I don't know what happened to the cd though it's probably lost in my room or something.

Other than that and Johnny Cash, I have no idea what any of these other songs mentioned are. I haven't even heard of half these people...

These songs make me tear up!

Crying - Roy Orbison
You Destroy Me - Jon Crosby
Trouble - Cat Stevens
Wild World - Cat Stevens
Love Song - The Cure
The Love Thieves - Depeche Mode
Send His Love to Me - PJ Harvey
Lost - VAST
Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues

What can I say, I love sad songs. Life just isn't happy all the time, you know?

Thanks! I never knew it was a cover! After listening to NIN version, I think I like Johnny's version a little better though, as I am not a big fan of NIN..
