So my girl recently got spayed due to an infection and lost her lifelong cage-mate 2 months ago. We're ready to get her a new cage-mate.

So I have quarantining questions:

1. Is it ok if the quarantine cage is smaller then ideal? About 100x70 or is that too cruel?

2. How far away do the need to be in quarantine? My apartment is small and my girl free roams a lot so it's hard to find a place she won't get to. Does quarantining mean they can't even be next to each other or is just separate cages ok?

3. Would they be able to share toys? Like take from one and give to another.

I have a companion/introduction question too:

Since she's spayed and I've heard it's easier to introduce a male and female would a male companion be best? Would his mating with her be a problem and/or bother for her? Is a female best?

Any advice or tips would be much appreciated. Thank you!
