I don't know what to say about the bedding issue, but I know there are metal litter boxes, they just seem to be difficult to find.

You can also use a glass baking pan. They work great. I don't know what to tell you about him eating the bedding. Does he eat any bedding you use? How about putting a small piece of fleece in the pan?

I use Aspen bedding. If he can get to it (I have wire flooring for him), he will eat it. NOM NOM. Fleece liners are an option, but I don't know if I could wind up potty training him. Lol.

If you really want to potty train him, you could try some of the suggestions that have been given so far. It will make cleaning the fleece liners easier.
