Novice Show Rules:

Who is eligible: This show is aimed at beginner breeders and those just starting out with chinchillas. If you choose to show your chins in the Novice Show, you may not also show at the National Show.

Before the show: Register your chinchillas Friday night or Saturday by 8:00 a.m. Fill out your paperwork and return it to the registration table. Groom your chins. People will be available to help with paperwork and grooming.

During the show: Chinchillas will be brought to the show table in random order. There will be no classification or separation by sex or age. Judging will be very informal. When possible, those with animals on the table will be invited to stand in front of the show table and talk with the judge. The best show animals will be put aside for further competition. Comments will be given for the rest, and they will be returned to their tables. After every animal has been judged, those that were held back will return to the table for judging. If the animals warrant it, one first, one second, and one third place will be awarded. If your animal receives a first, second or third place, you will no longer be eligible for the Novice Show.

Judge: Jim Ritterspach

Awards: All animals will receive a ribbon or rosette. Animals not held for further competition will receive an honorable mention ribbon. Those held for competition will receive a special mention ribbon. First, second and third place will receive a rosette.

We are excited to be adding a new show to National's weekend, aimed at new breeders and those just getting started with chinchillas, that might be too nervous to show at Nationals. Be sure to read the info above, and let me know if you have any questions.

We are planning on attending but not showing. We hope the weather is good to make the long drive from So CA.

The $10.00 per a ranch that aren't showing is that for only MCBC and ECBC members? I'm a ECBC member only.

MCBA and ECBC members along with non members are all welcome to participate and attend. Looking forward to working with and helping the novice group.

Sounds like we have the Baldwin clan preparing lunch and dinner for us this year. Looking forward to another great show.

Lunch and dinner will both be provided by the Baldwins. They are a former chinchilla family who have been very active in MCBA. They have often provided meals for us, and it is always wonderful! They haven't decided on a menu, but lunch will be a sandwich and salad of some sort, with a drink provided. The cost is $7.00. Dinner will probably be bbq chicken on the rotisserie and pulled pork, with a starch and salads. Dessert will be the ice cream machine and toppings. Dinner is $24.00. If you purchase both, the cost is $30.00. Reservations are due to Becky West ([email protected]) No later than March 5th.

And don't forget the raffle. Items for the raffle are very much appreciated! Let me know if you have any questions.

For those of you who would like to know the address to the 4 H hall.

710 South Union Street
Auburn, Indiana

Have a safe trip. See you all soon.
Becky, sent you an email for one dinner.

I am looking for some people to help at the show. I need the following:

4 people to help with classification. Two would work with standards and two with mutes. (This would be during the novice show. )
1 person to run the copy machine.
1 or 2 people to write birth dates on the backs of the cards.

We can also use lots of help with setup on Friday afternoon, beginning about three.

If you can help, let me know. If you have any questions, let me know.

I just noticed in the original post there would be no classification for the novice show. I sent you an email to help before I was awake and read the post again. So this is a correction.

I can help of course. But based on the original post, there is no classification for the novice show. However, count me in to also help with standard classification for the regular National part of the show. I helped out last year during the standard classification and enjoyed the job.

You are right, there is no classification for the Novice Show. During the Novice Show, though, we will be classifying for the regular show.
