This might be a dumb question, but how long do you recommend keeping toys before they should be thrown out? Like if they're not mostly chewed up or peed on or showing any obvious issues, is there a time limit where afterwards you should throw out wooden chews or vine toys or other chews etc.? Also is there anything to look out for that might hint that a toy should be thrown out?

Toys don't really expire if that is what you mean, but depends on material. Wood is pretty much good for decades assuming it's still in good shape and not moldy or anything. Other materials like vine, loofah, coconut shell, palm leaf, etc, I would look for it being over dried out and becoming flaky/crumbly, or brittle or of course if moldy, peed on, etc. It's a good idea to rotate the toys in the cage from time to time though, like you would for a cat or dog, especially if things aren't getting chewed much as when they got put in. It can help keep things interesting to chew, and you can save the old toys to put in later (if not chewed much were it was it's best to try put it in a different place) and in the chin's mind they are "new" again.
