Fur mats

Hello all,

My one chinchilla gets these mats on her one hip. They get a dust bath every night, and the dust is not in their cages 24/7. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or is this just something that happens? And is it hurting her in any way? These probably sound silly-- but hey, I wanna make sure she's okay! :)
Anything helps!

You might need to pull those mats out so the fur will come in normally again. If you grasp them close to the body and give a quick tug, it shouldn't cause pain. Some squeak a lot others don't care if you do it, but when they get big mats, that or combing are about the only ways to remove them.

Great, thank you for the advice!
