Dry skin

Can chinchillas have dry skin without it being ringworm? My chin has some flakes, but there is no redness/pinkness of the skin and she doesn’t itch. She is also not losing fur. It is super dry where I am at currently and I wasn’t sure if she had some dry skin or not. Anything I can do? Is it ringworm?

Yes chins can get dry skin too. How often are you giving dust baths? If the air is really dry you may want to cut back on how often you bath the chin. You can also put some balm balm on the ears and feet if they are dry and flaky too.

I cut down to once a week or when I notice their fur is oily. I will definitely put the balm on their ears too, I have been putting it on the feet to keep them from getting dry! Thank you
