How do you recommend weaning a chin off critical care?
How can you tell when a chin is ready to come off critical care?
My chin was spayed Tuesday and hasn't been eating on her own (at least not enough to notice). I'm giving her 1/2tablespoon (before adding water) of CC every four hours. She gobbles it up like she is absolutely starving. I'm not sure why she won't eat her food if she is so hungry. I'm not sure how to go about getting her back on her food and how to know when to do so.
*pooping, peeing & alert.
*also on .34ml baytril every 12hrs and .4ml metacam every 24hrs.
Thank you!

I would wait to wean until she is done with all the mess. Then you cut out the last feeding of the day, wait a couple of days, then cut out another feeding and so on. I weigh daily to make sure the chin does not loose a ton of weight, like more than 20 or so grams. If the chin looses to much I start feeding again and retry in a few days to wean.

Thank you! Last night she ate some pellets on her own, but I'm still giving cc to ensure she is eating enough.
