Hello,
We have 6 chinchillas. We have two separate cages. In the first one, we have a mom chin (Lulu) and her 2 older daughters, all girls and they all get along well. In the other cage, we have Lulu's third daughter, Marble, and her two babies. Since she had babies we gave her a new cage for two months to have more space for them. There was never any aggression, but since we separated them Marble has been attacking and peeing on everyone from the other cage. We do not know why or how but now Lulu's daughters are also starting fights mostly with Marble, but they sometimes pick on her kids too. We do not know if there was an event that started this all or if someone picked on Marbel's babies first, but it is really hectic for us. We let out the chins every day and play with them and now we have to let everyone out separately to avoid fights. It is so time-consuming and it's difficult for us to supervise because when we let Marble out she'll go to Lulu's cage and try to climb up and start fights with the 2 other girls in there, and when we let the others out they go to Marble's cage and try to provoke her. We have a large playpen that contains both cages. We do not want to separate them or give any of them away, but we can't handle this for 10-15 more years. We want to give away Marble's baby boy away, he is finally weened off, to avoid mating, and put Marble and her female baby back in the cage with Lulu but fear that they will kill each other. How do we get them to get along?
Thank you for everyone that took the time to read and help and have a wonderful day!
