Sorry for posting so much. I'm really worried.
My chinchilla Freddie's tummy is still round and big. He has eaten a lot an drank water. He pooped a lot more than usual, the poop seams Ok except for the fact that they are a little larger than usual. He's not bloated because he is not lethargic, poops, eats, drinks, etc. He's definitely not his normal self. He is kind of like resting most of the day but definitely not lethargic. He sometimes sits in his cage and starts to very slightly wobble. i think he is in pain. As i said before, my vet is out of town for 3 more days. I live in a small town so no possibility of finding an exotic animal specialist before she gets back (already checked). What can I do in the mean time? How much do I feed him? Do i feed mazuri and hay or just hay,or just mazuri? Please help. I'm really worried. Since it's not bloat I think he over ate.. Like I said in the last post. He ate a TON of food yesterday and the day before (since he didn't have water bc the water bottle broke he didn't eat for around 20 hours.. when I noticed I got him a new water bottle and he started eating like crazy.. Triple the average he usually eats. Somethings wrong. What do i do until he can go to the vet?
PLEASE help:(

It still could be a slight case of bloat. He may have a lot of gas built up but he's making droppings. It would probably be a good idea to get him some simethicone in some form. I prefer the more straight version in a Phazyme tablet, but you can get infant gas relieving drops possibly. It's hard to say what you have in Chile. Maybe go to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist (druggist) directly what products in the pharmacy have the simethicone in them, ask for the purest form with the least amount of ingredients.

Besides that you could massage his abdomen, make sure that he gets small amounts of playtime a few times a day to try to get his gut motility up and to see if it helps.

Since he's still drinking and eating and making droppings, I don't think it would be a blockage but it could be gas building up. Get him in to see the vet as soon as you can. At this point the simethicone would be a great start in helping him feel better.

I'm gonna go look for Simethicone, if not ill buy some. Thank you so much! also ill massage his belly a little and take him out for a little play time. Thank you.

Alright, I got Simethicone tablets. they are 125 mg. They are green softgel pills.
How much do i give him? Can he overdose? should i give the whole tablet? also, how do i make him it the tablet?

Usually we recommend giving the simethicone liquid drops which can be found in the baby section of a drugstore or grocery. Give the full dropper several times a day.

Not sure how you would give the tablet unless you grind it up and mix it with food?

I got hold of some simethicone baby drops. I put like 4 drops in his water. If he does not dirnk it ill use the tablets.

Usually chins like the taste..so you shouldn't have any problem giving it to him.
I give 1 dropper full straight to their mouth and they bite at the dropper for more.

This is not an effective way to administer the simethicone. You need to put the dropper to his mouth and give the full dropper. They like the taste and there is generally no issues giving this medicine.

If you wait for him to drink the whole bottle of water to get the 4 little drops it will take days.

you should never put anything in the water. That might discourage the chin from drinking the water is the chin doesn't like the taste.

Thanks for asking! He's doing MUCH better. His stomach is almost back to normal, he's eating normally and drinking lots of water. He's a lot more active and seems happy and not in pain. He just took a dust bath. he seems great! The simethicone really did help. :)

That's great to hear! Sounds like it might have just been from the stress of moving. I'm sure he's much more settled now. Where's the pictures? ;)
