Cage size minimum

Hi, I am currently researching Chinchilla care and was wondering if there is cage size minimum? Sorta like how hamsters have one of 450 inches of floorspace, do chinchillas have a minimum?

The minimum use to be 8 cubic feet (2ftx2ftx2ft) per chinchilla (the size of most standard breeding run cages). However more pet owners are starting to say at least 12 cubic feet (at least 2ftx3ft floor space and at least 2ft high) is really a more comfortable minimum.
