So I was wondering how you know what color chin you have if they are always changing colors? We have a girl that is 5 weeks old. When she was born she looked like a standard, and she's been lightening up ever since. Now she looks white with gray tips. She's even lighter than the second pic now.

The first pic looks like a mosaic to me. What are the parents?

We thought so too, but after the first week she looked like a standard. Father is pink white, mother is standard. The 1st pic is after she was born, and the second pic is when she was 4 weeks.

I'll try to get another pic of her today.

She's a white (mosaic). The white gene is an incomplete dominant and the color often changes as the chi ages. Most of my whites are born looking much like standards BUT they have the telltale white-tipped tail. Whites tend to lighten up as they mature and coat color and markings may change a bit over time.

I didn't know that about the tail. Thanks guys! I was really confused about how light she was getting.

Whites can continue to change colors throughout their lives.

Most that I've had that are born with color/markings similar to your baby get lighter, then darker again around 8-12 months, then lighten up yet again as they age (2-4 years). Of course nearly all my whites have been from the same lines so I don't know if that is unique to that line or common amongst all mosaics. :)

As said, they almost always are born with a white tip on their tail. Only a couple of times have I had a white baby born with a solid tail.

She's a cutie.
