I have just replied to the PM I received but thought I'd post here too...

I can transport from Nashville - can go any of several ways (1) toward Stacie in Evansville IN, (2) I-65 to Louisville, (3) toward Lexington KY. Guess for that matter, could go East toward Somerset KY.

I have a 3 hole Ryerson carrier and several cat/dog carriers (most of them though are fairly large).

Monday 4 Jan Arlington Rescue UPDATE [CHANGES IN CAPS]
At this time we do not have possession of the 70 chins.
A ruling is expected tomorrow, for what that's worth.

We ARE ready for donations at this time to:
1. Pet Products By Nature: Paypal to cover $57 shipping
If you have an extra $5 or $10, please contribute to give a little back for the quick and generous donation of 40+ lbs of wood chews and pumice stones.

Transport Update:

Transport: Carriers will be available good for about 24 hours. Food and hay will be available. Very limited expense money may be available.
Medical expense money is available.

We have transport from Dallas to Houston. We have transport from Dallas to New Orleans.

We HAVE transport from Dallas to WICHITA, KS.

We need transport from Dallas to LITTLE ROCK or Tulsa. We have transport from one of those locations to St Louis. We have transport from St Louis to Rockford IL and on 80 to the Indiana border. We need help with gas for the driver. Transport MAY be available north from the CHICAGO area. Transport IS NOT available towards Appleton/Oshkosh/Green Bay area.

We need transport from LITTLE ROCK to Nashville. We have transport from Nashville to S. KENTUCKY and on for a couple hundred miles.

We HAVE transport from New Orleans to PENSACOLA to TALLAHASSEE to Jacksonville.

We have transport from Jax to central FL.

We need transport to Fredericksburg, VA from any of these routes for 12 chins.

We NEED transport to N.C. for 5 chins.

We need transport and homes west from Dallas to AZ.

We need transport towards Colorado and Oregon.

Also, if you are along these routes and can adopt, please let me know.

Adoption fees WILL be waived for private adoptions on proof of being able to provide a quality home.

We have commitments for homes for 55 chins. We need 15 more.

My files are a bit less usable than they could be. I have screen names, real names, and/or email addresses for people, rarely all three, and I am trying to sort this out. By the time this if/when effort starts, I really need names, screen names, physical address, email and phone # of those involved. If/when I go on site, I will have one person ready to send emails to the group and individuals as necessary.

Thanks to everybody. This looks like it may work.

If the posession can be sorted out before Jan 15th I can transport the 5 to Statesville NC from Nashville. I should have room for at least 3 more chins to transport - possibly more if I can borrow a carrier from someone local.

If someone could meet me along the route, some could possibly be railroaded to Fredericksburg Va. if I can get carriers.

Thank you. I'll add you to the list. Carriers will be provided. They are not good for more than a day or 2. I am hoping most transport can be done in 24 hrs. I am not sure where Tiffany is located.

I was told that a contact for reptiles will be forthcoming but I haven't heard anything yet.

I responded to your PM again, but I will post here as well.

I live in southern IN and will be able to help with transport either to Cincinnati or Indianapolis. I can adopt two female chins (all of my others are girlies as well). If they can be railroaded into northern KY or central/southern IN, that would be awesome.

My exotics specialist is Dr. Steven Hubbard at the Bright Vet Clinic in Bright, IN. He has treated one of my chins for a pyometra and for a wounded toe. She is now perfectly healthy.

I also have experience with some reptiles, specifically chameleons and small geckos. We have room for one or two reptiles as well, if you hear anything about their needing placement.

*You probably already know this, but the rest of the week is supposed to be pure **** weather-wise in most of the central or eastern states (snow, sub-zero temps/wind chills, etc.). I don't know how soon you will have possession of the chins, but you might want to hold off on railroading out this way until it is a little warmer if at all possible. I checked the weather and it is supposed to be in the 30s next week.

Things are happening behind the scenes. I may need to arrive as soon as possible after (if) being given possession and will need to load all the chins at once. Maybe not but that is the way it looks now.

I badly need the full info on everybody as it will likely be asked for by the SPCA. This may go down as soon as tomorrow.

Just received an email from Dr. Brown. The TX SPCA, depending on being awarded possession, has designated us the lead chinchilla rescue. We will be expected to arrive the day after being notified and to take possession of all chins excepting any that may be adopted by volunteer workers. I am now pushing to ensure that any adopting worker be properly educated and equipped to do so.

It's up to the judge. Please get ready now.

I thought there was a 10 day wait period after the ruling. From your message it looks like they are considering that over with?

If you are attempting to participate in the "rescue" and/or railroading that has been discussed in this thread, please send your information to Rick via PM (real name, physical address, phone numbers, email). He's going to need to streamline notifications if/when the time comes. Having this information all together NOW, will facilitate that. Please PM Rick ASAP.

JennyBug - looks like I'm your gal... :)

Rick, I PM'ed you all my information, though I think you may have had it already. I am off this Friday and Saturday, so if the judge makes his decision soon that would work out amazingly well.

I've tried to PM you Rick. Not sure it went through. I'll email you in about an hour to get things straight

Peggy

Houston.

I will be ready to head for Dallas as soon as you need me.

Please keep me updated--Friday afternoon on is not good, as my sister is flying into Daytona Friday night.

Also, please let me know if I am delivering chins further south into Florida or not.

Susan, I can keep them here for a dew days if you need me to if you have a few smaller cages that I can grab from you for their stay here. Right now I only have enough cages for the chins I am taking, but I do have the space for a few more (yay for stacking!).

Okay... I have watched this progress for the last few weeks, with eager anticipation as to the outcome. And it was all fun and games, but now someone needs to ask the hard questions.
I no doubt commend you Rick, for taking this project and making it your own. If under good intentions this is a great act of compassion and nobility.
But the mushrooms have been kept in the dark far too long here, and need some serious questions answered.
If you get that call tomorrow Rick, Is NOLA capable of caring for all 70+ chins for an indefinite period of time?
All things aside.... There is only a dozen or so willing people, that are known to have capacity to make this happen in one day. If you feel you might be overwhelmed, now is the time to voice those concerns.
Although several people have been gracious enough to offer homes money and transportation. You have a serious logistics problem everywhere except west of Texas. I just looked at SIPR net for Air National Gaurd weather report... They Are NOT flying in several areas of your railroad do to ice/temperature and wind conditions. That should translate to "NEITHER SHOULD ANYONE ELSE".

I hope you will understand this is not an attempt to undermine you or your hard work. We are just concerned responsible pet owners that do not wish to see one rescue operation turn into a second rescue operation.
I would also plan for the fact that if custody is awarded, it could be temporary. The circuit court of appeals operates under the federal judicial system, and can and will overturn a state ruling. With the amount of money at stake here and the possibility of a corrupt witness, there is no doubt in my mind Global Exotics will exercise their right to appeal.:hammer: I highly Doubt the state of Texas wishes to foot the bill, for thousands of wholesale animals they allowed to leave without case closure. And you may want to consult with an attorney about your legal liability if you take possession of these animals.
I thank you for your time, and await your response
