um, you said your family won't let you move the chinchilla cage anywhere else. what about the litter box/-es? see if they'll allow you to move it/them to the bathroom. they're probably safest there, furthest away from the chins, and they won't be in anyone's way. :)

congrats!! :D for some reason, this post made me feel a bit teary-eyed. it made my heart skip for joy as if it were me, or something, that was getting the chin. congrats! :)

in the entire year since we got Jackie, she's only seen darkness once: when the electricity on our entire block went out a couple months ago. she and Chan seem to be just fine with never seeing darkness. :P

if i overhead someone talking about their new/current chinchillas, i would politely interrupt them due to my excitement of knowing someone else has one. likewise, if someone (another chinchilla owner) overhead me talking about mine, i would like them to strike up a conversation. :P

i wouldn't really know about this, but if i were worried about my own chinchillas possibly having that, i would first check that area where i found the poop for possible signs of pee- one of my chins tends to occasionally pee on his poop. or, you could clean up all her poop and wait and see what...
