Anyone heard of or used this Chinchilla seller?

http://chinchillagarden.com A user on Reddit inquired if anyone had used this site, or knew anything about the organization that runs it. I replied with a 6 paragraph break down of all the things I saw wrong with the site, and why I wouldn't trust it, but I figured I'd check here to see if...

    Chinchilla treats

My guy will chase me around the house for dried hibiscus.

    DIY toy tutorial collection?

Does anyone have a resource or idea for a "soft" wire reusable toy? My dude doesn't care for toys attached to the wall, but if it's on the ground he likes to throw it around or carry it to the other floors. Ideally maybe a wire that links to itself to close to make a loop that you can replace...

Are your chins hysterical for hay?

Lol I was going for alliteration, like cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. 😜 The good news is that the solution did seem to be less hay. I’ve been keeping a small pile right outside of his sleeping box and I see him munch on it before and after he goes to the other level for pellets, so I feel a lot better...

Wood shelves - big or small?

Loving the new ledges from PandamoniumPets!

Are your chins hysterical for hay?

Thanks Amethyst! This is exactly what I was looking for! I've had him for a month now, so I do realize that it's still early. And I definitely don't throw it away every day, lol, that would put us both out of house and home! I think you might be onto something with restricting his pellets...

    Wood Ledges

I second the PandamoniumPets ledges! Admittedly they're the only ones I've purchased, so I can't compare them to other makers on Etsy, but I can say that they're such high quality that I don't foresee needing to buy from any other sellers. I also picked up some 2"x1"x24" kiln-dried pine...

Are your chins hysterical for hay?

When I had guinea pigs, I would go through 10lbs of hay every 6 months for 2 boars. So when I adopted my first chinchilla recently, I figured that he'd eat about the same (adjusting for weight, and 1 chin vs. 2 pigs, obviously) knowing that hay is an integral part of a chin's diet. He had just...

    Daytime (sleeping) cage?

Thanks Amethyst. I'm recognizing that my activities (mostly getting up to let the dogs out) are not particularly "loud" activities, and nature doesn't exactly provide a perfectly quiet environment, so he probably has some built-in noise-cancelling.

    Daytime (sleeping) cage?

Has anyone had success with getting a secondary 'daytime' cage for another (less busy) part of the house during the day when chins sleep the most? Or do you think this would just create confusion/stress with where his "home" is supposed to be? I'm curious what you guys think before I invest in a...

Wood shelves - big or small?

Just the one. He's already about 5-6 years old and he's always been a solo chin with lots of human attention, so no plans to get another chin just yet. He gets lots of out-of-cage time and he's so comfortable around people and daily activities - he even chased me when I was trying to vacuum...

Wood shelves - big or small?

I ended up ordering some of them from PandamoniumPets and I'm going to try to build a few myself. They're still a few weeks out, but I'm super excited and will definitely post pics when they arrive!

Wood shelves - big or small?

Thanks all! Variety sounds like the answer I was looking for!

Wood shelves - big or small?

New chin mom here, preparing to make my own shelves from untreated pine and I'm trying to plan how big they should be. Is there a minimum size (for an adult chinchilla)? Is it better to have a lot of small ledges, or just a few medium-sized shelves? Thank you in advance!!
