    Bloating:Lethargic

Hi I can’t see a Vet until tomorrow (I’m in the UK) and I’ve heard some of you recommend baby medicine for chinchillas who have bloating. I need something quick :( Can someone in the UK recommend anything please? Or can anyone see if this is suitable...

Chin in bad conditions - what to do?

Hi I recently visited a place called Cannon Hall Farm in Leeds (UK) and witnessed that they have a chinchilla living in a cage outdoors - that also has no shelves or ledges! Is there anything that can be done to help the poor guy/girl? Can I report a farm for just one animal? I dont want to go...

Drooling but no malo (X-Ray Included)

Oh right sorry, she seems to not take it at all until i force feed her in her mouth, then after a while she manages to eat some mush off a spoon. She's constantly digging in her food bowl so I guess she's quite hungry :( she accepts an opened up raisin but it takes her a while to eat it

Drooling but no malo (X-Ray Included)

Thank you for the reply. She eats the recovery food through hand feeding but not her solid food. She's still drooling too :(

Drooling but no malo (X-Ray Included)

Hi Everyone One of my female chinchillas has been constantly drooling for just over a week now and has had two vet visits. On the first visit she was given Loxicom and I was advised she may have a mouth ulcer but to bring her back in a week for a full dental visit if no improvement. I booked...

Chins do not overeat - true or false?

One of mine is really big in size and the others aren't. I would say it depends on the chin and how much exercise they get.

    Baytril Dosage

Does anyone know the dosage for Baytril (injection solution) for a chinchilla? I would like to ask the vet to change Baytril oral solution to possibly an injection solution and I would just like to know before hand.

    Abscess (GRAPHIC IMAGES)

Hi Guys He had his xrays today and it seems his left incisor was completely broken and fragments of bone were around his jaw area. They also had loads of puss around (now removed). No maloclusion issues either - apparently the mark on his right eye was just an ulcer (gone now :)). The vets said...

    Abscess (GRAPHIC IMAGES)

I should probably do that - I don't care if it bruises their ego to be honest. He is trying to eat - he can only lick up crumbs I have made for him. I also syringe feed him twice a day his pellet mix and oxbow critical care.

thank you for your reply The vet is an exotic vet, the only thing is the exotic specialist is on maternity leave >:( I am also holding back - I am very annoyed and upset that it has gotten to this.

    Abscess (GRAPHIC IMAGES)

Hi Guys I noticed a week ago a big lump under my boy Jerry's chin. Obviously the first thought was abscess so I took him to the vets. The vet said to just give him Baytril and to drain it everyday, and he should go back to normal. He weighed 420grams. So throughout the week I drained the abscess...

Could Teeth Grinding be nothing to worry about?

One of my old chinchillas used to grind her teeth when woken up early by a sound and sometimes when she had a raisin (must have been too sweet!) Like other people have said, just look out for other problems such as drooling, eye water etc)

    Help with my hedgehog work

Hi Guys Im a chinnie owner btw and I know hardly anything about hedgehogs! I was wondering if someone could help me? Hi Everyone One of my chinchillas (Lucky) has had conjunctivitis for a week and has been treated on Tiacil drops 4 times a day. It hasn't helped. Now i've noticed he has droppings with a hole through the middle and a short string of mucus on the end of it. Has anyone had anything like this...
