    Picking up Chinchilla

Oh absolutely! I would so much rather see Zero race around the room and jump up walls (he got some pretty decent hight last night and almost got ontop of my dresser which was impressive) than to just hold him. He elects to go on my shoulders when he wants so there's no need to hold him unwillingly.

    Picking up Chinchilla

Yeah, I have gotten skewed by videos before! For a while I thought I was doing something wrong while brushing him because he did not enjoy it. I saw so many videos of chins loving being brushed but no matter what brush I used or how gentle I was he was not about it. I saw a video of a man in...

    Picking up Chinchilla

Thank you very much! I have seen so many clips of people picking up their chinchilla and the chin being fine with it, but my boy does not like it at all

    Picking up Chinchilla

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a chinchilla that does not like being picked up? My 7 year old chin, Zero, has never liked it. I usually take both hands and gently scoop him up from under (making sure his feet are on my palms) to move him but he never likes it and barks once he's lifted.

Tips on adjusting chin to new cage?

Thank you so much! He's recently not run in his wheel too much (only to make noise if he wants my attention when I walk by) so I may try to use that space for something else! Thank you for the advice!

Tips on adjusting chin to new cage?

Zero is very much the same way! He seems to always love new experiences and this would be his second cage change since I had a similar experience to yours. His first cage didn't allow for a lot of climbing and only had one layer, but with this change, since it's not a major change (this new cage...

Tips on adjusting chin to new cage?

Hello! So I am getting my chinchilla, Zero, a wider cage so that he has more room to climb and run, and I just want some outside ideas on how to make him more comfortable in the new cage. I have new platform covers, so that he doesn't hurt his feet when he jumps up and down from ledges, but...

    Cat Herpes

For anyone who finds this thread in the future, I asked my vet and they said no, chinchillas can not catch cat herpes! He finally got out of the cage time!

    Cat Herpes

Hello! So my cat has cat herpes and since I have to keep my cat quarantined from the others, my chinchilla hasn't gotten a lot of out of cage time... Does anyone know if chinchillas can catch cat herpes? I don't want to continue making him stir crazy!

    Chinchilla nibbled on a succulent

Thank you so much!! I will keep an eye out! He didn't eat a lot, just a half a leaf so I will keep an eye out for gas and the like! Thank you for easing my worries, now I won't wake him up from his nap every two seconds to ask if he was okay!

    Chinchilla nibbled on a succulent

My chinchilla Zero ate a leaf of my string of buttons succulent, I'm a paranoid chin parent so... Will he he okay?
