SURVEY: How much do you spend per year?

Thank you for your reply! I saw on some people on quora write they spend $1,000-1,500+ a year for ONE chin!! I honestly have a very hard time wrapping my mind around how you could possibly spend that much.(part of that was $240 a year for dust!😳) I’m glad I’m not the only one who has a budget.😅

    Chin herbs

I recently tried White Mountain Herbs and was pleasantly surprised at their variety, quality and low prices. (plus, free shipping over $20) They sell by the oz. However, since the site isn't for chinchillas, you'll have to be sure to double check which ones are safe. for example, I ordered...

Why does my chin do this?? I find him like this quite often. He even sleeps like that.

Probably just his favorite spot. It looks like you have a tile there so probably feels a little cooler too.😁

Yes, I was aware that they were shut down. I think they actually mentioned that in the post this video was in...I had just seen this and thought I would mention it as another example of what some are like.

    Advice on taking medication

That's a great idea. If either of mine ever need to use critical care, I'll have to try that. I always try to keep a small stock of it.

My Chinchilla Kidney Major Caused a Series of Problems help!!!

Oxbow critical care might be a good alternative to actual hay powder(if that's what you mean) considering it contains vitamins, minerals needed to help with recovery. I have never used critical care as I have never had a reason but I do always have a small supply stored for emergencies. Just an...

    Hello from the UK

I personally have never had to care for a grieving chin but I have heard that purchasing/making a "chinnie buddie" for them can help. @Amethyst may be able to offer more tips. Welcome to ChinsnHedgies!

    Cherry Tree

Yes, similar to peach, cherry wood (and also the stone) contains cyanide which is basically poison that makes it difficult for chins to breathe. I learned this the hard way, stay away from both.😬

    Pre-owning a chinchilla IMPORTANT questions?

Yes, as amethyst said, personality is a huge influence when it comes to chins. Babies are easier to tame but the end result will vary by chin. For example, I got my older one from a reputable breeder where he was cared for and played with and then my younger I got from a pet store. To this day...
