    Chinchilla not eating new food

So my chin, Boots, doesn't like her new food. It's the exact same kind I always get (Oxbow essentials), but for some reason she hates the new bag I bought. I first bought a new bag because the old one was running low, but she refused to eat it. So I kept giving her the old food mixed with the...

    Chin playtime?

ahhh I see. Yeah, I have a lot of time because of online school and whatnot, plus I'm a night owl. She is always supervised and the room is as chinchilla proofed as possible. No wires, no plastic, nothing other than chews on the ground, and no-pill fleece covering areas/crevices she shouldn't...

    Chin playtime?

Hey! I was wondering how much time a chinchilla should have out of their cage? I only have one chinchilla (around 1 and a half y/o) and she gets around 5 hours of supervised playtime daily (8pm to 1 am). I normally chill and do work such for the first 2.5 hrs, then play with her individually for...

    Oxbow hay alternative?

Hey! So my chin loves Oxbow Timothy Hay, but recently the packaging of the hay has changed. By the packaging, I man the way the hay is compressed into the bag. The hay is now just a bunch of short pieces and pretty dusty, so I'm not sure what to do...Does anyone know a Timothy hay brand that...

    Foot chewing

I see, I didn't really think of that, but it's possible. My chin has a habit of running and jumping recklessly, so that would make sense. I'll still keep an eye on her and take her to the vet if I see a bad habit beginning to form. Thank you!

    Foot chewing

Hello! I was just petting my chin and noticed something about her foot. She has a small bald patch on it, that I never remember seeing. It isn't a wound, and there is no blood or a scab, but the hair is gone. It's only on one foot, and isn't that big, but I know that fur chewing can be a big...

    Chin eating habits

Thank you for the advice! I never thought about it, but that might be it. I recently came hope from a week long trip, which she wasn't allowed any play time for safety reasons (she had a caretaker but I wanted to be careful, as it was my first time away). When I got back (last Sunday), I began...

    Chin eating habits

Hi! So, my chinchilla, Boots, has been eating a lot faster than normal. I give her around 1.5 tablespoons of her pellets at 8:00 pm every night (the time she plays out of her cage), and by 1 pm the next day, they're all gone! I don't fill the bowl when it's empty, though, to prevent her from...

Chin ate a thin, metal wire, help!

Hmm, I’ll look into that. I’ve heard that before, but when I consulted my vet (many months ago), she said that just a small amount of parsley soaked in water could help my chin get some hydration back. Still, thank you. I’ll recheck with her when I call again, just in case.

Chin ate a thin, metal wire, help!

The light goes off batteries and there weren’t any in, luckily. And, yes, I think I will take her for an x ray. She is acting very normal right now, but her droppings are very small and sparse. I’m giving her some parsley soaked in water, which normally helps when she is having stomach issues...

Chin ate a thin, metal wire, help!

So, I have these fairy lights with very thin, metal wires connecting the lights. Well, I let my chin out to play (always under my guidance) and had to step out for a minute. I always ‘chinchilla proof’ my room, so she can’t get anything harmful. This time, however, the lights fell while I was...
