Sage is a female standard grey chinchilla. She is about three years old. One thing she has learned which is very funny is that when I walk over the cage and start reaching for the treats, she will place her paws on the cage and stare at me.

Don’t blame yourself. Chins are so good at hiding diseases. You did all that you could for her and that’s what matters.

That is odd though. My chinchilla would hide in her tube while I cleaned when I first got her. You could put in playpen in front of the cage to keep her contained. If you have a double critter/ferret nation, you could also block her off in one section while you clean.

Kleenmama doesn’t own it anymore. It was taken over with new ownership a while back. I purchased some two or three months ago but it was third cut. I think I may have gotten the crop from last year but it was good quality. My chinchilla and guinea pigs liked it.

That will not keep her cool enough. If you have a car, can the chinchilla go in when it reaches 75 degrees and above? They can over heat at 75 and above so I would probably move her before that. However, if your chinchilla gets to 100/110 degrees they will most likely die.

I am curious about them. I think they are adorable. One day I may be able to own one. I can’t spend the 1000 on a chinchilla right now. Is there anything wrong with them health wise? Are they more likely to overheat? Are they hard to groom?

Dust is what should be used with chinchillas. Sand is too rough for them. I am sure someone can give you a better detailed explanation as to why.

I am planning on putting something under the cage. My white carpet is stained with pee. I have tried vinegar and a cleaner for cats and dogs and you can still see it. Is there anyway for me get the stain out?
