    Buttons & Bandit

Buttons and Bandit, my 2 1/2 (I think?) year old brother chins. Got them from a woman who adopted them from a vet who could no longer care for them. Love them to death.

    Temporary Cage Options

Hello, I was wondering if anyone here had any good ideas for a temporary cage on the cheaper side that can fit two adult chinchillas. I'm going on vacation in April and I'll be gone for about a week. I have a second cage but it's very old and it is now unsafe to use. Money is kind of tight so...

    Wood Glue

Hello, my chins' hay holder broke a little recently. It's an easy fix, I just need some non-toxic wood glue. The issue is, I have no idea which kind to get. I don't want to accidentally somehow get the wrong glue and make my chins sick, so are there any specific glues to get or avoid, or do I...

    Is This Bumblefoot?

I've already treated the wound and it's been healed for a while now, thank you for the reply though.

    Chins Don't Adore The Cold

    Oh, that makes sense!

    Chins Don't Adore The Cold

I know, the title may seem weird. For context, I've heard that chins love when the temps are below 60 degrees F. 50-55? They love it! So active and everything. But my two aren't like that at all. When the room temp is below 60, they actually aren't very active at all. They aren't lethargic or...

    Red Feet (Again, I know!)

Alright, so, it's been a day since I put the chinchiller in. One of the chins' feet has improved slightly, still some redness, but not as much I think. The other chin however has stayed the same with the redness, no improvement. Still no negative changes though, no unusual warmth or anything...

    Red Feet (Again, I know!)

The issue is that to my knowledge the redness is pretty much constant. Sometimes it looks like it's getting better but the next day it goes back to the normal redness. I'll try chinchillers and see if those help any, if not I'll put the wheel back and monitor.

    Red Feet (Again, I know!)

*Sigh* here we go again. The redness on the heel of my two chins' feet is still not gone. To be exact, the redness on their heels doesn't cover the whole heel, just the center mainly. There's also no scabbing, scratches, heat, bumps, puss, etc. All there is, is some slight normal callusing here...

    Renovation Noise

I have an opportunity to get part of my house renovation done early with me being able to stay in the house. It was originally planned to take place a month ago, but got stopped because of the virus. The rest of the renovations will be done in June. These early renovations will be the kitchen...

Should I Put The Wheel Back?

Not that I can think of. I don't want to use anything that's not anti-pill fleece and I don't have enough fleece to cover the area where they usually play.

Should I Put The Wheel Back?

    No, unfortunately.

Should I Put The Wheel Back?

I'm contemplating whether to let them out or not because I have textured hard flooring and I'm trying to have their feet heal as smoothly and quickly as possible, hence the cushioning in the cage. I'll do the foraging thing, that seems fun.

Should I Put The Wheel Back?

So, some background. My two chins have had their ChinSpin removed for around 1 1/2-2 months. This is because one of them (Buttons) had a foot injury, which worsened with the wheel, so I took it out, but then a few weeks after the other chin (Bandit) had a foot injury so the wheel had to stay...

    Questions Regarding Chin Feet

Okay, I replaced the half shelf just now. The cage now has only three flat, uncushioned surfaces. The top of the house (which is now not underneath the shelf, so it's more in the open so I'm hoping he won't lay on it as much), the top of their hay holder (which they don't go on very much), and a...

    Questions Regarding Chin Feet

My chin Buttons has recently had an abscess on his foot that healed by itself. Since the healing (around a month ago), the cage has been padded with fleece liners with quilt batting sewn inside. The padding doesn't cover everything, just the two floors and a half shelf leading up to the second...

    Lava Ledges

Usually I make sure my two chins have two lava ledges at all times, but they've already chewed through one and broke it off the mount (now it's just a chunk on the cage floor) and about halfway chewed through the second one. During these Coronavirus times, I'm not sure if I'll be able to find...

    Boarding Issues

Thankfully the person is allowing a window AC and our dehumidifier. I'll be checking out the room the chins are going to be in this Monday with the thermometer to see if we really need both or not. So thankfully it's worked out, thanks for replying though!

    Boarding Issues

So the vet I was originally going to use for boarding my chins cancelled due to the Coronavirus. I then asked the person I'm renting an apartment from (house is getting renovated so I have to move somewhere for 2 weeks) if I could bring the chins. She said yes, which is great, but then I...
