    Drinking enough water?

I can't really tell the size of the bottle, but most chins only drink about 1-2 oz of water a day. If she is drinking less make sure the water bottle is working, sometimes they get air bubbles in the tube preventing the water from coming out.

What filling/stuffing material is safe for a DIY fleece pillow for chinchilla?

I just use whatever thread I have, I think it's polyester general purpose thread, but either way it doesn't really matter since the thread should be inside and is dangerous if the chin gets to it, so no external stitching. Anything sewn you do need to keep an eye on to make sure no seams are...

Uneven poop sizes and no poops during the day. Is that normal?

If it's just dry skin I would just cut back on the number of dust baths, were I live it's fairly dry so my guys only get a bath about once or twice a week. Bag balm is good for on the bottoms of the feet (if they are cracking) or parts of the ears without fur, you don't want to put it on the...

Uneven poop sizes and no poops during the day. Is that normal?

Too many dust baths can cause dry skin, also anti fungal powders work by drying out the skin, so yes it could be the baths. The most common skin fungal infection is ringworm, which makes the skin look red and flaky as well as the fur falls out in the area, and it spreads.

    Potty pads instead of bedding?

Shavings can cause issues in most animals that actually live on and in the shavings, like hamsters, rats, gerbil, hedgehogs, etc since they spend most if not all their life with their noses literally in the shavings since they nest and burrow into it. On the other hand I doubt your chin lives in...

Uneven poop sizes and no poops during the day. Is that normal?

I'm not really sure, that seems odd that there are no poops at all during the day. The way their digestive tract works they need to be pretty much always pooping when awake, so I would think something is wrong since unless they are under stress they can't really hold their poop. If the chin is...

    Have Some Questions

Unfortunately those ladders are not safe, chins have been known to get legs caught in them and end up breaking or dislocation their leg or hip. One way you can fix it if you want to use it is to attach a solid board to the back of it so the chin's legs can't go though.

What filling/stuffing material is safe for a DIY fleece pillow for chinchilla?

The only safe material to stuff pillows for chins with is strips of more fleece too big to swallow. Cotton and poly-fil stuffing could cause a blockage if swallowed.

    Potty pads instead of bedding?

You can try that, fleece isn't as absorbant as bedding so you will likely have to wash it daily to avoid pee smell if the chin uses it. Paper bedding is not safe so I would remove that regardless of what you decide to do, the only safe bedding is aspen shavings or kiln dried pine shavings.

Uneven poop sizes and no poops during the day. Is that normal?

Normal chin poop is about 1cm long so smaller then that could be a sign of a problem. Chins don't poop much if at all when they are sleeping, but normally do get up during the day to grab a bite to eat or a drink and should poop some then. Does he act normal? Eating pellets and hay, drinking...

How to tell which chinchilla is spraying

Are you sure it's actual spraying or could it just be peeing and hitting bars and things, basically splashing onto the wall? My two boys will frequently pee off the side of a ledge and also sometimes stick their butts out of the cage and pee onto the floor too . They have gotten...

    Plants

Yeah it was just snowing here yesterday too but back in the 60s today  😂. I meant it depends more along the lines of if you live in a house in a tightly packed neighborhood with close neighbors, an apartment, or more an isolated area where you can control who has access to your...

    Plants

Depends on where you live, do you have anywhere that you can grow things outside? or would you have more control over things indoors? I live on an acreage so most of my stuff just grows wild/naturally in the ground. If you can't guarantee no one will dump anything on the ground or anything it's...

Should I get my chinchilla a friend?

Not all chins get along with all other chins, so they might or might not get along, some say it's about a 50/50 chance. Also keep in mind that bonding can take anywhere from days to years, assuming it ever happens. Chins are social herd animals so even if they don't end up getting along having...

    Have Some Questions

The ledges in my chins' cage range from about 4-6 inches deep, are around 6-7 inches wide (not including the cage width shelves made of 2x8 boards) and 1-2 inches thick. So your idea for ledge sizes is right about the middle. 1" is thick enough, but the chin can chew through it faster then a 2"...

    Green poop!

If he ate more hay then normal then yes that can cause the poop to be greenish because of more hay in it. More hay can also make the poop slightly bigger too, because of the increase in fiber. Since there is not smell or consistency (wet or sticky change) that is probably all it is.

    Hay & Pellet Feeder?

I personally just have wooden hay feeders for hay and then metal bowls for food, not combo. PetSmart does sell a ceramic combo feeder like the one you linked though.

    Have Some Questions

If she is able to get her teeth through the bars, at the top and/or bottom of the bottle she can chew it. You could also just wrap the bottle in fleece or clip a piece of fleece a board to the cage so she can't get it. She may not like the hay you are giving her, chins should eat about a pile...

    Have Some Questions

The water bottle should be at a level where all 4 paws are on the ground, but not so low that she is twisting her neck to drink, the nozzle of mine is up about 3 inches from where they stand to drink. I would also switch out the plastic bottle for a glass one, she may not have chewed it yet but...

    Chin concern (digestion/teeth)

Did they give gas drops to help with the gas bubble? Chins can't burp or really fart, they can pass small amounts of gas as they poop but can't pass just a gas like we can a gas bubble can actually block the poop from coming out. Since it's only been a day I would just wait and see how the meds...
