Has anyone had success with getting a secondary 'daytime' cage for another (less busy) part of the house during the day when chins sleep the most? Or do you think this would just create confusion/stress with where his "home" is supposed to be? I'm curious what you guys think before I invest in a second cage, which I'm thinking would be something like a single-level critter/ferret nation - not super small, but not on the same level as his main cage.

I don't think that is really needed unless were the cage is is super busy and loud during the day like the tv or music blaring or kids screaming/yelling nonstop or something. For the most part chins get use to whatever is normal for the household. Most chins also do get up for short periods throughout the day and are social creature so do want to be where the family is when people are home and awake. They can also get use to when people come and go too, so say you get home at a specific time they will often be up to greet you. My chin is in my office, just feet away from my desk where I spend most of my day, I watch shows and movies on my computer, play video games, listen to music, talk, and he is fine with it.

Thanks Amethyst. I'm recognizing that my activities (mostly getting up to let the dogs out) are not particularly "loud" activities, and nature doesn't exactly provide a perfectly quiet environment, so he probably has some built-in noise-cancelling.
