So I have a 3 year old chinchilla and a month and a half ago his right eye started to lose fur and got pink really quick. I did some research and i found out that it was an eye infection. I went to the pet store and told them about the situation and they suggested me to buy a colloidal silver solution, which is supposed to contain water and silver. They told me to apply 2 drops every morning and night for a week or so. It’s been two weeks and nothing changed, i don’t know what to do. Any idea to fix this?

it’s looking a little wetter than usable because i’ve just applied his drops

I've never heard of using colloidal silver for an eye infection for chins, but I also don't know what the vet normally prescribes. Also is the only symptom loosing fur around the eye? or is the eye weepy/teary and goo coming out too?
Other causes for lose of fur around the eye is ringworm, but tooth issues can also cause the eye to weep due to roots growing up into the eye socket. Especially since you aren't seeing any improvement I would take the chin to the vet for a proper diagnosis of the issue.

I highly doubt the fact that it’s a ringworm because i’ve seen images and it’s not as bad as my situation. I have checked his teeth and they seem totally fine and not too long. Yes there’s goo coming out and it’s a little wet. Ill probably stop using the Colloidal solution I have and buy one that the vet suggests me to get. Do you think saline solution could work? If you have a product that could work let me know. Anyways thanks for the information really appreciate it and i’ll talk about it with my vet!

You cannot check your chinchilla's teeth. X-rays need to be carried out by a vet and you need to get this done asap. Pet shops are not qualified to give advice on health issues. You should have consulted a vet in the first instance.
