How do you tell if a chinchilla likes a show

Hello I was just wondering how I can tell if my chinchilla likes a certain show. Also what shows should I try personally I cant watch anything that doesn't have an animal as a focus thought by college I would grow out of that xD
 
If the chin likes a show they will sit there and watch it, I've even had my guys alarm call sometimes when things happen in the show, lol. My guys seems to like animal/nature shows, but also cartoons and anime. I think anything with lots of movement and colors. If you are looking for something specifically for your chinchilla to watch you can even try those cat tv videos on YouTube (just search for cat tv and a bunch of options should pop up), they are an hour or more of things like squirrels, birds, mice, fish, etc that are suppose to be for cats, but I'm sure some chins might like it too. I use to (previous version of windows) have an underwater screen saver that my guys use to like to watch when I wasn't home or at night (my chins are in my home office).

My guys really love the movie trolls. Sometimes when I'm cleaning their cage, I'll play it for them and they'll just sit and watch it. It's pretty adorable. I find anything with bright colours.. my chins also enjoy classic music.. so, I guess it's really just figuring out what they like. 🤷‍♀️😂
 
Disney! Entertainment for all. My old chinchillas also enjoyed music(especially jazz). Different for every chinchilla.
 
I'm just popping in here with a few questions about everyone's chins watching tv. Until now I've only had a radio in their room, so they've known no action for the past 4+ years unless I'm in there (and I've felt bad about that).

How do you know they're interested in a show? So far, I haven't noticed any interest. I only have Roku tv in their room, so I'm limited as to what I can get. But I've tried a few types of shows.

What time of day do you have the tv on for them? At night when they're up and playing (assuming, since I'm sleeping). Daytime? Both?

Do you have the sound on for them, or just the picture? I don't think my girls are too fond of sound. I don't know if that's a chin thing or just mine.

I know my guys are interested when they come to the front of the cage to sit and watch the screen. I don't have shows going when I am not in here, so they watch what I watch. The sounds seem to interest them just as much as the pictures, but as I said I only have shows or movies on when I am watching, and I always watch with sound.

I do leave the radio on when I go outside sometimes though, since chins can hear in the same levels as humans, just like humans they can have personal preference in what kind of music they like.

Well that's interesting that they hear at the same level we do. For some reason I thought their hearing was much more sensitive than ours. I think I read it somewhere, but I could be remembering that and just made it up in my head. LOL

So far it's a no go. I think they've actually become more withdrawn, so I stopped putting the tv on and went back to the radio. I've been doing some work in the kitchen so there have been extra noises that they're probably afraid of. (And falling a few weeks ago and screaming I'm sure doesn't help.)

I should have said similar levels to humans, they can't hear quite as low but can hear a bit higher, but their hearing is much more similar to humans then to other rodents are. Chinchillas are actually used as lab animals for hearing tests for that reason.
