So I want to remake the platforms in my chins' cage and have been trying to find safe wood... I was wondering is kiln dried oak safe? Thanks!!!
No you don't need kiln dried poplar it just needs to be dried. Pine needs to be kiln dried because it contains sap and oils that are not safe, the kiln drying process allows the sap to drip out or harden, and the oils to evaporate. To clarify, if I were to use poplar to make ledges, I wouldn't need to try and find kiln-dried poplar? Just whatever (untreated) poplar is at the lumber store?
