Day 1 of meds and she's still feisty but her weight has dropped way down to 454 from 478 at the vet yesterday which is scary.

2 weeks of baytril/reglan and a probiotic is done. We stopped hand feeding her (we were feeding her 60 ml a day) and she was eating and drinking.

But we weighed her and she's down to 416, when we started this she was at 488 and we stabilized her to around 460 with the hand feeding. We hand fed 15ml last night of CC and she pretty willingly took it. But she's been hiding in her house and I'm not sure if she's moved since. We've been putting fresh Timothy and Orchard hay in her cage. She has fresh pellets and water. Her breathing doesn't appear labored. Her one symptom is she's just not eating enough.

We put a call into the vet but I don't know what to do. There's apparently an ultrasound technician that does rounds to the exotics clinics but I'm living in a place with a stay at home order so I don't know if that's something that's going to happen or not.

I ordered some alfalfa hay to supplement because I read that's good for chins getting over injury and illness.

How can we save her? Is weight loss normal after a couple weeks of antibiotics and hand feeding? What can I do? How can I help her?

You may need to continue hand feeding for a while, at least until you notice her eating on her own and maintaining her weight.

did you ever figure out what was wrong with your baby? My chinchilla is only eating crushed pellets and the vet has ruled out her teeth
