My chins will be getting a new cage in about two months with actual bedding, but right now I'm a bit stuck. I've asked this before, but didn't get a very clear answer. Will they be okay with no bedding and three litter pans with aspen shavings inside, so only the Critter Nation plastic pans and shelves? They haven't been chewing on them at all. Should I put some aspen shavings on the pans for bedding, or would they be fine for two months until their new cage arrives?

They don't need bedding, other then to absorb their pee (so a litter box is fine) but if they chew on the plastic you will need to cover it with fleece as soon as possible. Personally I don't think it's worth the risk to leave plastic pans (or any other plastic in the cage) exposed, just because they haven't chewed them yet doesn't mean they wont. Chins have been known to decide one night they want to chew up the pans and if they swallow too much it can cause a gut blockage. So they may be fine for a couple more months, or they could decide today the pans look good for chewing, there is no way to know.

I'll be getting fleece liners with the new cage hopefully in the end of December, and they've shown absolutely no interest in chewing the pans. Plus I really don't have the money to get decent fleece liners, and it's not really convenient to get cheap liners now and in only 1-2 months from now get better ones. I'll take your point into mind though.
