Hey guys, just recently Pixel has become a lot more close and trusting of me and my boyfriend. So close that he feels the need to climb onto my head and groom me. It's pretty cute, if a little painful lol. I was wondering if any other peoples chins do this? He lives alone so maybe he misses that kind of interaction? I was wondering as well if on occasion it would be ok to groom him with a specialised comb? I recently went to see a pair of chins who I noticed had much better groomed fur than Pixel and thought its probably due to the fact they groom each other. Not to say Pixel's fur is bad but it's a bit 'shaggy' in comparison lol.

Rhino does that all the time! sometimes i call him my little ear piercer, lol.

his cage doors are big enough that i can fit my head/arms/upper body into it, lean my arms on a shelf, and he'll hop onto either my shoulders or my head and start grooming away, try to eat my hair, and stick his nose right in my ear. chinny whiskers tickle in the ear! lol.

there are grooming combs out there. they are more for the chins that go to shows than your average pet chin, and they can be expensive i've read. maybe post a 'wanted' ad in the classifieds section for one?

Haha! Aaww thats so cute! I wish I could fit through Pixel's door like that! I spoke to a chin owner yesterday about him grooming me and eating my hair and she had never heard of chin's doing it to their owners. It's quite sweet that he wants to take care of me hehe. Yeah I heard they were expensive too :/ If I spent so much money on the comb and he didn't like it, I would be gutted. But I guess there is no harm in trying!

Lol! Luckily I haven't had any damage done to my hair or eyebrows yet. Pixel is very adamant to sit on my head and groom my hair but I will try and keep him in check incase he gets a bit too carried away! I wish I could give him scritches to say thank you but he's still not into that at the minute. But he's bonding more and more with us each day so it might be a possibility in the future :)

Poppy doesn't groom me, but she's a real mother-hen to my 6 year old son. He puts his head though the cage door and Poppy immediately starts to groom him. She'll spend ages making sure his hair is up to her standard of clean (She's my OCD chin) and she sits on his head to get to the bits she can't reach from her perches. The problem is, she doesn't 'get' ears and has been a bit over enthusiastic in her approach to his ears :skeptical: Thankfully he doesn't mind - his little furball can do no wrong in his eyes.

I recently just got a chinchilla. He's 5 or 6 years old. The owner couldnt take care of him anymore and was giving him away for free with everything she had for him. its been 2 weeks now sense i got him and he now jumps on me and climbs on me and about half a week ago, started chewing my hair. After doing research and asking some people ive learned its just his way of grooming me. The other thing he did was bite my ear. Hard enough that i didnt want him to do it again so watch out! :neener:

i usually just pull away a little then he stops or goes back to chewing my hair. I worry that hes actually eating my hair. Is he? Or is he just pulling it? :hair:
