Thanks. I've got critical care if necessary.

    Drinking enough water?

It was my vet who advised me to try rocket salad and apple when he was drinking such a small quantity of water! It's only very small amounts.

    Drinking enough water?

Is your chinchilla a male? My one only drinks about 5 ml of water a day. I took him to the vet in December, thoroughly checked over and nothing wrong. He is very active, eats and poos well. Someone on this website who sounded very knowledgeable said some chinchillas, particularly males, can...

At a loss with sick chin

In the past when Ive had to give Critical Care I've mixed it with baby food to try and make it tastier. My one liked the apple and pear mix.

    Looking For Words Of Comfort

Over the years I've had several chinchillas who have been aneathsitised and all of them have woken up none the worse for the experience, maybe a little groggy for a short time, though it can never be guaranteed. If he is otherwise healthy apart from the abcess I don't think you should be...

    Water

Thanks for information. Didn't realise they could survive on such a small quantity, it's the first time I've had a male after several females. He has only got a choice of water now in bottles or a bowl, I have removed all juice. Although he hasn't touched any he is still very active. As a...

    Water

Thanks for advice. I've stopped the pineapple and prune juice as I'm aware of the sugar content and giving him very diluted sugarless cranberry juice in the hope I can revert to normal water soon which he wouldn't accept before.

    Water

Hi thanks for post. He's eating well and in good health but still won't drink unless I give him syringes of water with a touch of pineapple or prune juice in it. He's had a choice of several bottles, all well rinsed, and a bowl but not interested. Have tried tap, filtered and bottled water. My...

    Water

Sorry think I posted reply in wrong place. I have tried one with a valve rather than the ball type nozzle, still not interested. Do the Ryersons ones actually have a glass drinking tube??

His poops are smaller than they should be, he is urinating but not much. His ears are fine.

    Water

Stil got the lack of drinking problem. Took him to the vet, they said to give him access to only water for a day but despite having a choice of two bottles and a bowl he didn't have any. Vet said to bring him back, they anaesthetised him, took X-rays, did PCV test but said everything was fine...

    Water

Thanks for your info. I have a wee bowl for water which clips on the side of the cage but he's not interested in that either. To try to get bigger poops I've been giving him recovery food diluted with water by syringe. He takes that but not water by itself! Ive just bought a new water bottle...
