I just wanted to let everyone know the status of Little Boo.
It took us about six months but his foot is fully healed. What i've learned from this... Our chin would overheat himself with a cone on. I had ordered a special one online, made one out of fleece and it literally did me no good.
In...
I have had to do hair ring checks so i am positive he is a boy. He does this constantly it's the cutest thing.
Or he'll go in his hide out and almost stand up and put his paws on the ceiling and sleep.
Thanks, when he's half asleep i'll put my fingers through his cage bars and he'll waddle over to them and chunk up over my hand. It's the cutest thing on the planet.
Thanks for your advice I'm glad im not the only one with these problems. We have had a heck of a time with this little guy. But I am thankful that his knee fully healed and that he can jump just as high as my other chin.
If anyone else has issues like this in the future here is how we treat...
This little guy has seen the vet four times in the last six weeks. I'm not opposed to taking him again. It's just that my two exotic vets are out this upcoming saturday. We live about 100 miles away from them so Saturday's are our only day's we can take him.
He is on a course of antibotics...
Okay we just got finished dressing his wound. I took some update photos.
As you can see the top of his foot healed (thanks to Mankua honey and iodine)
Recently he went for his foot. This is what it looks like now.
It looks better than it did two days ago. Manuka honey helps a lot.
Spoof that's and older picture i'll have to get an updated one. Thats what it used to look like. The top part of his foot is fully healed and has hair again. He attacked he toe recently twice in two weeks.
I posted a thread a good while back when my Chinchilla got it's leg caught in his ferret nation ladder. He was rushed to the emergency vet where he got an xray and was diagnosed with a sprained leg.
A few days after the sprain he catering his leg but all seemed well. We had separated him into...
My chins are super spoiled as my fiance and I hate the heat and humidity. We keep our chins with us in the basement where it is a constant 65 degrees. We use a dehumidifier to keep the humidity around 30 percent.
When we moved out of our last place my one chin go so upset by the movers going...
Other than price are they about the same? I want to get a saucer but I'm afraid my chin won't get it and it will go to waste. We had a crappy plastic one we tried to get him to run on and he looked at us like we were crazy.
I somewhat disagree. Kidney stones are pretty rare in chinchillas compared to guinea pigs / rabbits. It's a fundamental difference in the way they metabolize calcium. Guinea pigs and rabbits absorb all of it. Chinchillas like other mammals dispose of whatever calcium they don't use. Could it...
Well they had some very closely monitored play time again today and everything went perfect no fights just playing. A little bit of mounting here and there but nothing serious. The chin's foot is almost fully healed. Hair is even starting to grow back over his foot. At the advice of the vet i'll...
After the other chin has healed. Should i go through the process of reintroducing them again? Cage next to cage etc.. Ideally i want them both in their ferret nation mansion.
As some of you know one of my chins recently had leg injury about 4 weeks ago. Then he bite into his foot and caused and infection. To make a long story short he just saw the vet yesterday and was switched to a new antibiotic after a culture was taken.
His foot is healing nicely. I've kept him...
