Moving (out of state) with chinchillas

My carrier had fleece on the bottom. They were in it for 5 days and everything was bone dry. It's too much of a risk to put them in a travel cage when they're fine in the carrier.

    What to do in summer?

I have my AC set to 70 degrees until the outside world dips below it. They play in 70 degrees with no problems.

    VERY dry ears.

One of my girls has dry ears that really only shows up in winter. I assumed it's because she's a beige and her ears are lighter. I have some bag balm around and watch for it to get to the point where I need it.

    New Chinchilla Owner please help!

Does she chew the stuff on the top of the cage? I can't leave anything up there without teeth marks appearing. I've always gone by if I wouldn't put it in the cage don't put it on top.

Advice on playtime and room setup?

I've used large panels of cardboard. taped them together or have a seperate panel to block off an outlet or cord. https://www.papermart.com/p/brown-corrugated-sheets-pads/4652 I think mine are about 2ft by 5ft.

Moving (out of state) with chinchillas

I drove multiple times with my 3 from ny state to vegas. one of them was a 5 day drive. they were quite scared when putting them in the carrier for the second trip, but talking to them calmed them down and had no problems. i wouldn't keep the water bottles attached unless you're stopping, the...

    large bite wound

Reached out to a rescue. I'm shaking, I'm nauseous, pretty sure I'm going to puke, I'm crying uncontrollably. I don't want to say goodbye to them, but I can't take care of them. I have nothing to sell, no one to help, only get paid so little once a month.

    large bite wound

Can chinchillas get a dust bath with a large wound? I want to take her to the vet, but there's no money and after calling 21 vets yesterday, no one would work with me. her estranged cagemate bit her pretty good. the wound is like her chest skin peeled off and is resting over her paw. it's...

    Moving Soon

That's great! Will certainly be less stressful to know I can keep them there the whole trip. Pretty soon they're going to be more traveled than people I know. Will be crossing 11 states. The cat loves cars and being outside so I'm not too concerned about him. Have a harness that he's going to...

    Moving Soon

Gonna move across country in March. Two of us are planning on driving 3 chinchillas, two of which refuse to get along, and a cat from New York to Nevada. I was looking into Ryerson's 3 hole chinchilla carrier, but the pictures are so small I can't tell what it looks like. Are the walls between...

    Moving across county

Moving from New York to Nevada. I'm not sure where to start. I have my 3 girls and a cat. I'm thinking flying somehow would be better because I can't imagine finding hotels that will accept all my animals would be easy.

    Cat Pee

I just moved back to my parents house, the chinchillas get their own room here, but the door to the room was left open against my knowledge and the cat marked his territory in the room. What's the best way to clean it up? I can't remember the name of the disease that cat's carry, but should I...
