teeth problems, so worried about his future

The upper premier 'roots' elongated through where the tear ducts are often obstructing them. Progression of apical elongation eventually pushes up the eyes, and, in the lower jaw, can be felt as firm lumps on the ventral surfaces. I can't tell if he is saying this chin has root elongation from...

teeth problems, so worried about his future

Hi, We just lost the battle with our chin. I will tell you what helped me know there was nothing else that could be done. It is so hard the first time with a malo chin. I would say you are lucky you got one vet to give you a correct assessment, I didn't have even one (out of three) know about...

Please help me figure out what is going on merged with Runny Nose thread

Quito is going to the rainbow bridge later on today. I got a new batch of metacam on Wed. and gave a lot .2cc of the 1.5 strength. The vet tech said metacam is light sensitive, and we had the old one on the window sill. I wanted him to have good pain meds to see if they worked better. By...

I was seriously thinking about not responding..... but for the sake of others reading this thread, things do need to be clarified. Quito had a filing at the end of October. That vet did not trim his incisors, so that was done in November by another vet. After a quick recovery, he was eating...

    Lu update

I hope he responds to the baytril! How was the x-ray different? Do those type of infections show up on regular x-rays? Or like below? (Reminds me of when my husband went to the dentist with pain in a tooth, they took x-rays, said it was fine. That night, terrible pain, then next day at the...

Thanks Crysta. I will try .1 cc of the stronger, since that is all I have. It did take .2 cc of the stronger last weekend before his tongue was freed. He was literally back to his old self. He has taken the stronger one (since I had plenty) for the first major filing, the incisor trim, and...

Can't get chin to eat anything

Just found out his pain med metacam is 1/3 as strong as what the other vet from last filing gave us. No wonder he doesn't want to eat, he hurts :( Is .2cc of 1.5 mg/mL too much? That is the old concentration. We have been giving .2cc of .5 mg/mL. Both say same dosing.

Another piece of the puzzle just solved. This vet watered down the metacam to .5mg/mL, the metacam from last filing was 1.5mg/mL. So Quito has been getting 1/3 of the pain meds he got last filing. I'm glad instinct had me call the first vet. Last weekend I was giving him .2cc of the stronger...

He is clean, and oh my does he smell better. He did look pretty pitiful with a wet chin and belly. I was too tired to watch him last night, but he did take a "whopping" 3 cc after the bath... He is running out of metacam, so I need to request more. We give him .2cc/day. This is my golden...

That would be great if that is all it is!!! He really needs the dust bath to deal with the drool. We are going to make an attempt to really clean him up today.... hopefully he will appreciate it. He has terrible mats on his chin to his chest. The fur is different there. I have seen where you...

Not the eyes, behind his ears, and under whiskers, I'll need to watch to see if its anywhere else because I can't remember much from the middle of the night. He has always been a fur chewer. I know it can be pain, but he does it more when its hotter. We live in a hot and humid climate. I do...

Claire's question: Is he using his feet to scratch or is he biting his fur? Is he chewing the fur on his front paws? He is scratching with his back legs. A lot. He is biting fur on one hind side, but letting the other side grow back (??). He is not chewing fur on his front paws.

Caiti, I've had several people here and by email comment about that #5. Many say its bad. But, one says their chin has x-rays that look like that, and the chin seems fine. The vet says the same, that some have x-rays look like that and they seem fine. Who really knows? I have everything I...

Can't get chin to eat anything

Thanks Dawn and Claire, he did take 6 cc last night, I know it isn't enough. He was ravenously hungry, and ate well, so we do know he can eat. I just want to give the time frame to recover from the filing, then if he is still bad, then I (and my daughter) will really know. And we won't look...
