Most people here like ferret nations or critter nation cages. They can cost a bit, but sometimes you can find them in creigs list, and/or eBay– it’s worth spending time looking at different sites on-line as some may have sales (and always look at the shipping costs). You can order a single...
Watch for aggression and be prepared to separate them just in case. If it was a bite it could happen again.
I hope she heals up well and there are no further incidents.
Some chins “love” a chin shaped cuddle buddy – but others like any shape they can lean on.
And like Becky suggested – there should be a lot of stuff he can chew on in his cage – wood shelves and hanging toys. The more stuff that has some bite to it that he can chew on, the less appealing...
I’ve always used fleece and my chins don’t seem to pee outside of the cage unless they are out for a long time. My lines have lasted for years. I make my own and after trial and error, I make them extra big and just deal with the extra around the edges. My boys have never chewed the liners...
my chins ahve chewed PVC - be carefull with it, I'd say keep it covered (there are a lot of peopel in the classified section who sell fleece covers if you don't want to make them). As soon as I can I'm going to replace my PVC with metal tubes
I’m glad you and your chins were OK. A FB friend lost power at her place in NO… but she had the room cooled really cold so it only got up to 75’F when the power came back on… and she had a backup plan to move everyone down the road to a home with a AC on a generator if it got too hot at her...
I’d stretch a hammock across the middle to prevent falls from the very top all the way to the bottom. Even the most graceful chin falls at times and you don’t want any injuries.
And how about some hanging toys? You can hang them from the top, but also from the underside of shelves.
My chins are in FN not a C&C(that’s another poster). My pigs are in cages made from wire shelving (way sturdier than C&C and I can say that a wire shelf cage is very sturdy. The shelves are made to hold a LOT of weight. And they are sturdier than the playpens many of us are already using for...
Paula - you just said that your blind chin has a problem navigating a CN, "I have a blind chin in a CN (over 5 feet) and he's a problem at navigating it."
20" is the widest they make the shelves and therefor the easiest hight to make a "shelf cage"... you could go higher, but it would be...
I guess my other posts saying use shelving were not clear (cubes and the plastic things that are used in a tradition C&C are not a good solution for chins as they can come apart and they are plastic and can be chewed). Here’s what shelving from the home center looks like: It’s 20” wide (tall...
I thought about it and dind't get it... one of my three chins had hand probelems and I've proabbly spent $1K on bills for that, one of my 2 Gpigs has wonds froma fight followed by on-going skin issues and insurance would have helpped. One of my 2 cats had cancer and over ther lifetime it...
