Do you think he could possibly still be drooling because of the two ulcers in his mouth? I'm not sure how long they would take to heal, even with him being on antibiotics.

Need advice: Is it normal for him to still be drooling? It's been a week since the surgery and he has been on baytril and metacam for the past 9 days. He is still eating and drinking normally. Still passing poo and urine and I see him eating, even chewing on apple sticks and his lava ledge. Help?

UPDATE: Tristan required oral surgery today since he had spurs on his right molars which were rubbing against his tongue, causing an ulcer on it and for it to swell. The surgery was a success and the veterinarian who did the surgery said besides the spurs needing to be grinded down his teeth...

In my opinion all animals (especially dogs and cats) should be kept away and out of your chinchilla's area. They are prey animals and take time to adapt to their environment. It's only been 2 days. You should be letting your chinchilla get used to their environment and new home. I usually leave...

Yup, I completely agree with everyone else. Especially Cuddlebug...my hay lover chinchilla Toby has some pretty big poops, where my pellet lover chin Tristan has normal sized (not as big) poops.

My chinchillas will do the same thing especially when running around in the basement for 30-45mins (which is kept at about 60 degrees.) I think they just tire themselves out, of course the possibility of the room being too warm is another factor too.

Why not try like a large cardboard castle that you put together yourself. Something like this...

I agree with the carboard box trick. Line your wall with them so they can't get to the base boards and make sure that they can't squeeze behind the cardboard boxes panels either.
