Just visited the Twilight site. Those toys are awesome. I wonder if I can talk my husband into making some... but neither of us can paint.

I like to use a smoosh cage, but it doesn't work for more than two chins. Threes can be tricky, especially when they are all adult females. But that doesn't necessarily mean it can't be done! Good luck. =o)

Of course, there would be nothing wrong with taking advantage of this opportunity to get your significant other to take over some of the chores.... =o)

Well, I can't bake these branches because they are about 4 feet long. But I'm sure that they'll be fine after they have dried out. I've actually been giving my chins unbaked apple branches for years, and that's worked out fine, too. I just arrange the branches in big vases in my basement and...

Wow. I suck. My chinchilla area is a mess, but they do have roomy cages that I'm pretty good at keeping clean. And my kids (my impediment to organization) like to hang out with the chins, which makes them all happy.

Awesome cage! And great instructions and ideas, too! Question: I cut some big alder branches from a tree that came down in our last big storm and they are currently drying out in our garage, with the intention of placing them in the chin cages in the future. What is the concern you were...

I would think that they need at least a week or two in their cage, getting used to their new surroundings, before you let them out for playtime. Relax and do not be afraid of them - they just need time to adjust (offering dried rosehips from your hand should eventually spark their curiosity and...

The fact that he jumps onto your hand is a good sign because it shows that he is curious. Curiosity grows into friendliness. Just give him lots of time and continue to be gentle. The more time you spend with him, the friendlier he will become. You are on the right track! =o)

Fresh veggies and fruits, anything moist like raisins, give chinnies soft poop. Mine only get Oxbow chinchilla feed, hay and dried rosehips. I sometimes give them Oxbow veggie treats as well, but they don't need them (they do love them, though).
