    Pet Insurance

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone has pet health insurance for their chinchilla? I was looking into it and I am not sure what is legit and what isn't, and what would be best for Rio. He was an accident prone baby, but hasn't hurt himself in quite awhile, but more importantly, I am very...

Thinking about adopting a companion for Rio

Thank you, it was best to get them as far apart as possible because they hated each other so much, my sister loves Clyde dearly and was so happy when I told her she could have him. Separating them was probably the best decision I could have made regarding them, Rio is less grumpy and Clyde has...

Thinking about adopting a companion for Rio

Thank you, I think I'm going to see if getting him another chinny buddy will help. This is going to require a lot of thought, I don't want to make any decision on impulse. He does seem to like company, I always leave my tv on for him when I leave the room, he watches it and makes cute little...

Thinking about adopting a companion for Rio

Don't dare accuse me of dumping a pet on someone without knowing the whole story, yes I could have phrased it differently but I do not appreciate having someone make a horrid assumption as such about me.

Thinking about adopting a companion for Rio

If Rio and the other chin would happen to not get along, I would house them separately in my house and be sure to give them both equal amounts of attention and affection. I would NEVER "dump" a pet on someone else, ever. I had given Clyde to my sister because she had wanted a chinchilla, I would...

Thinking about adopting a companion for Rio

I'm in and out of the house all day, I always play with Rio and bond with him in the evenings though, he still seems to get bored and lonely though. I love him more than anything and I definitely don't want him to get bored or lonely. I don't have time for breeding, so I was hoping that a male...

Thinking about adopting a companion for Rio

I have been debating adopting/rescuing a companion for Rio, he is a two year old light ebony chinchilla. He gets really lonely and bored at times. I play with him and let him run around the room every day and he has tons of toys, but he still seems bored. Here is the problem though: I'm not sure...

    Introducing Buttons!

You're welcome. I bought a few books about chinchillas when I got Rio but I have found that this forum is the best way to learn about them. I know a lot of the people on here are longtime breeders and vets, so I generally trust their advice. :)

    Sleeping locations...

Rio rotates sleeping spots. During the day he usually naps in on his granite stone or on the top of his hammock, but when he is sleeping in the morning after playing all night he is usually in his wooden sleep house. I think even after two years he doesn't have a favorite spot. I think they...

Yes! That is Rio! Thank you!!! :) I'm glad Buttons is adjusting well to his new home, you seem like you are going to be a great chinchilla parent :) I know there are a few posts on here that have some different tricks to teach your chin, I taught Rio how to give kisses :)

    Introducing Buttons!

Rio is two years old now and he still explores and goes nuts over new toys. He loves his pumice stones and hanging loofas. I am looking into building a customized cage for him because he's really active and even though his cage is big enough for two chins, I feel that the more room he has the...
