I have two chins out of the four I had years ago. Peppy I've had since 2005 and the other since 09.

I plan on keeping just one chin from my group. I need a smaller cage that has enough room for a chin spin and a couple levels that doesn't take up a lot of room..looking for ideas..thanks!

If you limit it to 1/4 cup a day for most of them it should be fine. I have two that get Manna Pro Show cause that what the chins get. One is a fatty and the other a growing bun. I give them plenty of timmy hay cubes and 1/2 cup of food a day. My one female is 7 years old and always been on...

I use aspen currently. What kind of cage do you have now? We have a Martin's and with the deep pan hardly any comes out. I buy the huge bags at Tractor supply for 10 bucks and it has bigger flakes. That bag lasts forever.

Well I cannot get the timothy cubes locally..just alfalfa. I've begged them to order them and they tell me they will and then next time they can't..Phooey. TSC only has the timothy pellets and alfalfa cubes. I am hoping once I move downstate it will be easier to find them.

You could maybe get some thin wood and lean it up or somehow attach it over the baseboards. Or make a paper 'wall' and tape it up when they are out. That is what we do. Contact paper on the walls behind cages makes it easier to clean. I guess I find that landlords are idiots most of the time...

It depends on the farmer usually, I know where I get my horse hay the farmer has 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, some is an alfalfa/timothy mix, some just timothy, you have to ask. Not sure about cuttings, but I am feeding 1st cut to my horse and chins right now, it is pretty stemy and coarse but neither one...

I built mine out of the wire that was sort of plastic coated that was available at Home Depot..I was told that was ok at the time, but that was about 7 years ago..they never chewed on it and I was able to make a huge cage for around $30.

You may want to see about going to a specialist that just does eyes, there is an excellent one near lansing that does all species as far as I know, depending on what the other vet thinks.
