I read somewhere on here that if I was going to make my own ledges for my chin that I need to use untreated kiln dried pine. I went to the local lumber store and they told me they only carry Untreated air dried pine and green pine. Is there any chance I can use air dried pine without hurting...

I went to the feed store in town today ( I live in a very small town) It's the only feed store around and they have chinchillas in there, this is where my husband bought our chinchilla....but he was the first one they had for sell, now they have a FN cage and anywhere from 2-4 chins in there...

I can't seem to find Oxbow in my town, I even asked at the feed store in town today and they only carry Kaytee products, including the food, it's all I've given my little guy, but I hate the consistency of the Kaytee hay. It's hard and pokie!

I don't give my chin his bath in his cage, I let him have it during play time. Is that bad? Now I'm wondering.

He's never chewed on it, but I'll look into getting some fleece on there instead, His cage is actually behind the couch in the livingroom, I only put it over the top level because that's where his hammock is.

When I first got my chin he had a plastic one and it leaked, I got a new plastic one and he chewed through it, I went through about a dozen plastic bottles before I realized they even made glass ones. UGH, sometimes I'm just slow. LOL

That is good to know, because its so bright in the morning by his cage, I always put a dark sheet over it and then take it off when I get home, he seems to like it, as soon as I cover his cage he jumps into his hammock to sleep
